Happy Endings
It seems like now more than ever no one is truly happy with who they are. Lovey wants to be the all american girl just like Shirley Temple. With the "perfect blonde ringlets and pink cheeks and pout lips, bright eyes and a happy ending every sunday." She wants the same amount of love that Shirley gets. The thing is, Shirley Temple isn't real. She is aspiring to be somthing that is impossible. This is going to affect her sense of self, because she will never be happy with who she is as a person. She will always want to be something she is not. Once she accepts who she is as a person her life will be so much more enjoyable.

You bring up many good points, it's hard to be who you are when the world around us pretends to be something there not, once lovey realizes that, her life will become much simpler. being 13 is hard!
