"It seems as of we are all appetite, as if a human being is simply a bundle of needs to drain the world. Its no wonder there are wars..."(135).

I think the quote from Nell is very relevant, in this time period it is truer than ever. I don’t think we even realize how much just us as one person consumes in a day. Try to think about how much you consume, I know I consume a lot! Now imagine the entire world. There are so many people in this world consuming as much or more than you every single day. I feel like we just take and take from the earth. We consume and use so many more resources, a lot of them that we cannot re use, like oil that is just being used up and we are not finding any more of it, so we go to war with other countries so we can take their oil and food. We are definitely all appetite. It’s very scary when you really think about it.

I know it was wishful thinking, but I secretly hoped they would be saved at the end. I didn’t like that they used the gas to burn the house down, it seemed very pointless to me to just waste all that wood and burn all their memories and beds and resources to go live out in the woods with a new born child. I think they could have gone about it in a different way, or just not burned the house down at all. In case they needed to go back to it. Especially since there is a bear hanging around. If it was just the two sisters I think they could have definitely lived in the forest, but they have a child. So I guess I was a little disappointed. It was a cool way to end the story, great book!

Arizona Immigration Law

I don’t know exactly where I stand when it comes to the Arizona immigration law, I think that something does need to be done about how many people come into America who are not citizens. I believe that if you want to be here you should become a citizen. I realize that it is not that easy to do, but in my opinion the law is the law. If you want to be in this country do it the right way. I think the way they are going about it in Arizona is not ok, I don’t believe that racial profiling is in any way the right thing to do about this problem.

Also when we were having our debate they said that people who were citizens were being harassed. If people are truly being harassed that is not ok either, maybe its because they don’t have their ID on them. I don’t believe it’s to much to ask for anyone to have their ID on them at all times. I think you should always have that on you no matter what.
Again I am not totally sure how I feel about this issue but I know something needs to be done about it, I believe Arizona is going a little overboard.

I think every club at a public college needs to follow anti-bias rules. There isn’t even a question. This is a public college, anyone can go to it, you cant discriminate through your school. It would be a different story if it were a private Christian school. That would be a whole different argument.

I don’t believe that this Club should have the right to turn anyone away if the school is funding them. They can have their own club not part of their college and not let in who ever they want. They chose to do it through there school; they have to follow their rules. It is not to much of the school to ask. This shouldn’t even be as much as an issue as it has become. No one should be torn, right is right and wrong is wrong.

Also, what gives them the right to judge whom they should let in and whom they shouldn’t? Isn’t it god who chooses? They have to right to put themselves on a pedestal and say who can be allowed into my club and who can’t. Who made you god?

Who says you have a right to say who is wrong in their beliefs. Unless you your self are absolutely perfect, and believe me.. none of us are. You have no right to judge another being as well as their beliefs.

We all have a right to be ourselves.

A reckless decision

Due to a five to four vote on January 21, 2010 the supreme court ruled that there is no more ban on corporate campaign money. Meaning that corporations and independent groups can spend unlimited amounts of funds for or against candidates for president and Congress.
I personally don't support this decision. I feel like it just gives people who want to make a difference but don't have the funds absolutely no chance to win an election because it is now more about affording to win.
And I compltely agree with Obama who said the decision was “a major victory for big oil, Wall Street banks, health insurance companies and the other powerful interests that marshal their power every day in Washington to drown out the voices of everyday Americans.”
This decision was just another way for our voices not to be heard, I think this was a terrible decision, and a sad day for the voices of every day Americans who want to make a difference.
