A reckless decision

Due to a five to four vote on January 21, 2010 the supreme court ruled that there is no more ban on corporate campaign money. Meaning that corporations and independent groups can spend unlimited amounts of funds for or against candidates for president and Congress.
I personally don't support this decision. I feel like it just gives people who want to make a difference but don't have the funds absolutely no chance to win an election because it is now more about affording to win.
And I compltely agree with Obama who said the decision was “a major victory for big oil, Wall Street banks, health insurance companies and the other powerful interests that marshal their power every day in Washington to drown out the voices of everyday Americans.”
This decision was just another way for our voices not to be heard, I think this was a terrible decision, and a sad day for the voices of every day Americans who want to make a difference.

  2. the more i read everyones blogs AGAINST the decision, the more i agree that it was a bad decision. i think instead of limiting the rights of corporations, the money they put forth should not aid in a victory but more as a donation to the campaign.

  3. From reading your blog I gained a greater understanding of more of the political side of the ruling and how it is affecting everyday people in a bad way. You made a good point on how everyday voices will be drowned out because of the financial capacity these corporations are going to use to their benefit.

  4. I definitely agree with what you had to say in your blog. I liked that you brought up the fact of how unfair politics would be now that corporation funds are involved. Also, I thought you made a good point at the end when you said that voices wont be heard. It brings out an example of unfairness.

  5. I like you quote. Yes I really do agree with everything you have said. They are just making it so that huge corporations can keep bringing in the profit and so the rest of America keeps on struggling.
